Frequently Asked Travel Questions

FAQ

We recommend booking at least 6-8 months in advance for international travel to secure the best rates on flights and accommodations. However, we specialize in last-minute planning too—we've arranged wonderful trips with just 2-3 weeks notice. The more lead time you give us, the more options and exclusive perks we can access. Contact us with your dates and we'll advise on timing for your specific destination.

We work on a combination model. Some clients receive complimentary planning services when booking through our preferred partners and suppliers, who pay us a commission. For complex or highly customized journeys, we may discuss a flat planning fee upfront. Either way, we're transparent about costs and ensure you understand the full picture before we begin.

As travel advisors, we are not able to provide legal, visa, or immigration advice, and requirements depend on your citizenship, your itinerary, and your personal circumstances. For official, up-to-date requirements, U.S. citizens should visit the State Department at https://travel.state.gov/ and review the country information page for every country your cruise visits, not just where you board and disembark. If you are not a U.S. citizen, contact the embassy or consulate of each country on your itinerary. Your cruise line also publishes the exact documents required for your specific sailing, and having the correct documents at boarding is the traveler's responsibility. If you are unsure where to start, we are glad to point you to the right resources.

We help you navigate cancellation policies and modifications with each supplier. We work directly with hotels, airlines, and tour operators to advocate for you, explore rebooking options, and minimize losses when possible. Travel insurance is also something we recommend and can help arrange. We're here to support you through changes, not add to your stress.

Absolutely. We're fluent in both English and Spanish, and we bridge language gaps throughout your entire journey. If you need translation support during your trip—at airports, with local guides, or at accommodations—we can arrange that for you too. Communication and comfort are priorities.

We provide ongoing support from the moment you book. You'll receive detailed itineraries, packing suggestions, pre-trip tips, and 24/7 emergency contact information. During your trip, you can reach us with questions or changes. After you return, we love hearing about your experience and staying in touch—many of our clients come back to us for their next adventure.

Yes. We strongly recommend travel insurance for international trips and provide information on options that cover medical emergencies, trip cancellations, lost luggage, and other unexpected situations. We can guide you through different plans and help you choose coverage that matches your needs and budget.

Many countries require your passport to be valid for six months or more beyond your travel dates, and every country on your itinerary can set its own rule. We cannot confirm whether your passport meets a specific country's entry requirements, so please verify validity rules for each destination at https://travel.state.gov/ and with your cruise line before you sail. If you need to renew, start early - current processing times are posted on the State Department site and change throughout the year.

Entry requirements for non-U.S. citizens depend on your nationality, your residency status, and every country on the itinerary, including the documents you will need to re-enter the United States. We are not able to advise on visa or immigration matters, so please contact the embassy or consulate of each country your cruise visits, or refer to official guidance from the U.S. Department of State to confirm entry and visa requirements. You should also confirm U.S. re-entry requirements with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Your cruise line can also tell you exactly what they require at check-in. Correct documentation is the traveler's responsibility, and we are glad to point you toward the right official resources.

Document rules for closed-loop cruises (sailings that begin and end at the same U.S. port) are set by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and by each country your ship visits, so they vary by itinerary and citizenship. Some travelers may qualify to sail with alternative documents, but many destinations and cruise lines still require a passport, and a passport is always the safest choice - it is also the only document that lets you fly home from a foreign port if an emergency cuts your trip short. Check https://travel.state.gov/ and your cruise line's document requirements for your specific sailing. Correct documents at boarding are the traveler's responsibility.

Yes. Florida law requires any business that sells travel services to hold a Seller of Travel registration, and Megusta Travel LLC does, registration number TI117642 under Florida Statute 559.927. This requirement applies to every travel seller in Florida, not just us, so no matter who you book with, Megusta Travel or another agency, you should always verify they hold an active registration before paying a deposit. You can check any Florida seller's status directly through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS).
